“Ah, every quay is a regret made of stone!”
— Álvaro de Campos (Fernando Pessoa), Maritime OdeAhoy! I’m Masa! I am a first-year Ph.D. student in the David A. Dunlap Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto. I obtained my B.Sc. in Earth and Planetary Physics from the University of Tokyo, where I worked with Shota Notsu and Kazumasa Ohno.
I am mainly interested in theoretical and computational studies of (exo)planetary structure from a geophysical perspective. My ultimate goal is to understand the ubiquity of oceans in the universe from formation and evolution history. My research interests also extend to dynamics, protoplanetary disks, and other astrophysical topics beyond planetary systems. I am also involved in a variety of community and outreach activities.
Research Interests
-
Atmosphre-Interior Coevolution
Understanding the long-term coevolution of planetary interiors and atmospheres. -
Exoplanetary Aerosols
Investigating atmospheric physics and chemistry, particularly aerosols (clouds and hazes). -
Exoplanetary Tides
Examining star-planet interaction through tidal theory and statistical analyses.
